IRPbc students represent a range of professions, including medicine, nursing, social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy, pharmacy, speech language pathology, counseling psychology, medical laboratory, medical radiology, midwifery, and audiology.
How do students benefit?

Students participating in IRPbc receive orientation to interprofessional teamwork and rural practice; work with a range of health professionals who provide support and guidance; learn and provide care as part of an interprofessional team; work across the continuum of care, from hospital to community to homecare settings; and experience rural practice and life in a small BC communit |
Students receive assistance with travel and accommodation.
Who can participate? How?
Students from all health professional education programs in BC are eligible to participate in the program. Students are selected based on the community’s need, the student’s learning objectives, and the availability of experienced practitioners to guide the students. Student selection criteria include:
- Senior level placement in an accredited health sciences program in BC
- Strong discipline specific knowledge and skills
- Self directed, flexible, strong teamwork and communication skills
- Interest in Interprofessional rural experience

| 2009 Student Orientation will take place April 24-25th, 2009. Attendance at the orientation is mandatory. You’ll have a chance to meet community leaders, talk to your preceptors and interact with other students in a fun environment. |
